Questions Durham contractors ask before hiring us

Short, direct answers to the questions contractors in Oshawa and across Durham ask most about price, contracts, timing, ownership and results.

Written by Ali Sedighi, MBALast updated:

These are the questions we hear most from contractors in Oshawa, Whitby, Clarington and the rest of Durham before they hire us. The answers above are deliberately short. Below, a few topics get more room, with links to pages that go deeper.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost?

Growth costs $1,999 monthly ($1,499 on annual billing), Elite $3,999 ($2,999 annual) and Enterprise $7,999 ($5,999 annual), all plus 13% HST. Ad spend sits outside those fees.

Do I have to sign a long contract?

No. Every plan runs month to month, and 30 days' notice ends it. Annual billing is optional and simply lowers the monthly rate.

How soon will I get more calls?

Paid search can produce calls within days of launch. Local SEO and review work usually take a few months to show clearly, longer in the busy lakeshore towns. We'll give you a realistic timeline for your trade and towns.

We tried an agency before and got nothing. Why would this be different?

We can't promise it will be, but we can show you exactly what we're doing and what it costs per lead, every month. Most failed agency relationships we hear about lacked clear targeting by town, tracking of real calls, or honest reporting. We fix those first.

Who owns the website, ads account and Google profile?

You do. Your domain, website, Google Business Profile and ad accounts stay in your name. If you leave, you keep everything.

What do your reports show?

Calls, texts, emails and, when you share outcomes, booked jobs, broken down by town and service. We also show cost per lead and what changed during the month.

Will you promise first-page rankings or a set number of leads?

No. No one controls Google's rankings, and lead volume depends on many things outside our hands. We commit to the work, the targeting and transparent reporting.

Are you a contractor, or do you sell leads?

Neither. We don't do any trade work and we don't resell leads. We market your business only, and every enquiry goes to you.

Which Durham towns do you cover?

All eight municipalities: Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Clarington, Scugog, Uxbridge and Brock, plus nearby areas you serve, such as Scarborough or Kawartha Lakes.

Do you only work with HVAC companies?

No. Our published case studies are results from our HVAC work, but this site serves roofers, plumbers, electricians, renovators, landscapers, builders and other contractors across Durham.

Can we start with just one service?

Yes. Many clients start with local SEO or ads alone. We'll tell you if one service by itself is unlikely to work for you.

Is the first consultation really free?

Yes. The first 30-minute consultation is free for eligible trades businesses, with no obligation to sign up.

Can you help with licensing or code questions?

No. We don't give regulatory, safety or legal advice. For those, contact the responsible body, such as TSSA, ESA or the HCRA.

Price and what you get for it

You pay a monthly plan fee and, if you run ads, a separate ad budget to the platform. The pricing page lists all three plans with monthly and annual prices, plus a worked example of how a Durham renovation firm might judge whether it's worth it.

The clearest way to think about cost is per booked job, not per month. A plan that costs $2,000 a month and brings four extra $8,000 jobs is cheap. One that costs $1,000 and brings none is expensive. We help you track it that way.

Timelines, honestly

Different channels move at different speeds:

  • Ads: days to weeks, as long as tracking and targeting are right.
  • Google Business Profile fixes: often a few weeks.
  • Competitive local SEO: several months, longest in Pickering, Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa.
  • Reviews: starts immediately, compounds over months.

If you need work soon and also want long-term results, the usual answer is ads now and SEO in the background. Our services overview explains how they fit together.

If an agency let you down before

This is the most common thing we hear. The patterns tend to repeat: the agency owned the accounts, reports showed impressions rather than calls, ads ran across "the GTA" with no town targeting, and the owner never spoke with the person doing the work.

Our answers to each:

  1. Accounts stay in your name.
  2. Reports show calls, texts, emails and jobs by town.
  3. Ads are fenced to the Durham towns you choose, using Google's presence-only location setting.
  4. You talk to a senior strategist, not an account coordinator.

If you're mid-way out of a bad agency arrangement, we can help you work out which accounts you need access to first.

Ownership and leaving

Everything we build or run for you is yours: website, domain, content, photos, Google Business Profile and ad accounts. If you leave, you give 30 days' notice and keep it all. We'll hand over logins and notes so the next person can pick up where we left off.

Reporting you can read in five minutes

Each monthly report fits on a page or two. It opens with the numbers that pay your bills: calls, texts and emails received, split by town and by service, and booked jobs where you've told us the outcome. Then it lists what we changed that month and what we plan to change next.

A typical summary line reads something like: "Courtice produced six roofing enquiries at $82 each; Pickering produced four at $171, so we moved $400 of next month's budget east." You should never need a marketing glossary to understand where your money went.

Working with a small crew or a big one

The approach scales either way. A one-truck operator in Port Perry may only need a cleaned-up Google profile, a short website and a review routine, which the Growth plan covers. A firm running several crews from Whitby into Pickering and Clarington usually needs ads by service and town plus ongoing content, which is where Elite or Enterprise make sense.

What changes with size is mostly the number of towns and services we track, not the method. Either way, the starting question is the same: which jobs, in which towns, are worth the most to you?

What we need from you

Marketing works best when the owner stays involved in a few small ways:

  • send photos of finished jobs, with the town noted
  • answer or return calls and texts quickly
  • tell us, roughly, which leads turned into work
  • flag when you're overbooked so we can pause spend

That's usually 30 minutes a week.
